Eloize Mellet

Eloize qualified with a BSc in Physiotherapy from the University of the Free State in 2000. After graduating, she joined the practice of Sklaar and Laidler, where she honed her skills in outpatient physiotherapy alongside highly skilled sports physiotherapists. She was afforded the early opportunity to become the team physiotherapist for Alberton Rugby Club. In 2003, Eloize completed the South African specialty course for Neuro Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy (NMSP), where she was recognised as the best clinical student.

In 2009, she completed her MSc in Physiotherapy at the University of the Witwatersrand. Her dissertation sparked her interest in ankle injuries in rugby players and the contributing factors involved. Eloize continued working in the Gauteng club rugby scene with Roodepoort, Raiders and Pirates Rugby Clubs, as well as with the Lions Amateurs teams.

In 2010, Eloize opened her private practice and is currently practising at Sunninghill Medical Centre and at Waterfall Sports Orthopaedic Surgery. She continues to hold a special interest in sports therapy, helping athletes achieve their goals through effective rehabilitation and speedy recovery. Since joining the Waterfall team, she has also developed a keen interest in post-concussion rehabilitation, working closely with Prof Patricios and Dr Lourens in this field.

Eloize remains the proud team physiotherapist at Pirates Rugby Club and is an active member of Sports Concussion South Africa.
