Tanya Coats graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand in 2011 and completed her community service at Natalspruit Hospital. She began her career in the government sector, where she gained valuable experience across all fields of occupational therapy.
In 2014, Tanya joined the hand unit at Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospital, where she discovered her passion for hand and upper limb rehabilitation. Working closely with skilled surgeons and multidisciplinary teams, she gained invaluable exposure to a wide range of patients with both traumatic and non-traumatic injuries.
Tanya has been involved in several research studies and has presented at professional courses and the South African Society of Surgery of the Hand Annual Congress. She continues to collaborate with leading orthopaedic surgeons and physicians in Johannesburg to ensure patients receive the highest standard of care tailored to their individual needs, whether they are athletes, musicians, office workers or recovering from traumatic injuries and surgery.
She is passionate about helping people overcome hand conditions and pain, supporting them to regain function and independence through practical and professional advice. Tanya incorporates innovative technology and evidence-based treatments to provide effective, efficient and cost-conscious rehabilitation.
